Scientists have named an ability that allows people to live much longer than average.
Researchers from Boston University (USA) have discovered that the secret to male longevity lies in a psychological feature.
The less energy a person spends on dealing with stress, the greater the chance that he will live a long time.
Trying to re-solve all sorts of issues and the desire to control everything and everyone reduces this likelihood, says a study published in The Journals of Gerontology .
These conclusions were made based on observations. The work began in the first half of the 1990s and continued until recently. A total of 743 men participated in the study.
The main conclusion is that men who spend less energy on coping with stress are more likely to live longer than those who seek strategic solutions to difficult situations.
Depletion of psychological resources is no less dangerous than, for example, poor nutrition, alcohol abuse and a sedentary lifestyle.
