Japanese scientists have revealed what older people need to drink to get better quality sleep.

The answer to this question was given by experts from the Shizuoka Central Research Institute.

Scientists have found that powdered matcha green tea improves the quality of nighttime rest and improves social skills in older people, writes the journal PLOS One .

The experiment involved 99 elderly people. They were divided into two groups, one of which received capsules containing 2 grams of matcha powder.

A positive result was noted after a year. Firstly, the volunteers began to better assess the psychological state of the people around them and adjust their behavior depending on it.

Second, subjects who took the capsules rather than the placebo showed higher scores on the sleep quality index.

To conduct the experiment, scientists used powdered green tea made from the Camelia sinensis plant.
