Researchers have named a whole “bouquet of diseases” that have been proven to develop with a lack of sleep.
American scientists shared their observations and identified six ailments associated with poor night's rest.
The researchers shared their findings in the medical scientific journal Nature Medicine .
Sleep deprivation increases the risk of developing atrial fibrillation.
The risk of developing depression, obesity, anxiety disorder, hyperlipidemia and hypertension also increases significantly.
Scientists came to these conclusions after conducting a study involving 7,000 volunteers.
By monitoring their health with special bracelets, experts were able to prove the connection between sleep and the development of these diseases.
The study also found that disturbances in the regulation of deep and REM sleep were associated with an increased risk of heart rhythm disorders.
