Scientists have found a mechanism to protect people from the risk of developing age-related diseases.

Diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and other diseases affect many people with age.

Researchers from the University of Birmingham (UK) have found the reasons for this and were able to learn how to prolong the youth of the body.

It's all down to a peptide called PEPITEM, according to a study published in the scientific journal npj Aging .

Its main value is its anti-inflammatory properties. It is the long-term inflammatory process that leads to the development of age-related diseases.

PEPITEM is produced by the human body in a certain amount. But with age, the activity of the peptide in the body decreases.

The reason for the decrease is the lack of activity of a hormone called adiponectin. It is closely integrated into the production process of PEPITEM.

Scientists have obtained evidence that increasing the concentration of PEPITEM, including artificially, can “rejuvenate” the immune system of elderly people.

This discovery will form the basis for work on developing special drugs that can stop or prevent dangerous inflammation that leads to the development of age-related diseases.
