Scientists have found out when the Earth will turn into something like today's Mars.
Serious changes on the planet will be associated with the Sun, which has only existed for 50% of its life.
The Sun is about 4.5 billion years old. During this time, its brightness has increased by 30%, reports the Phys.org portal. And this process will continue.
Scientists from the University of Chicago (USA) have calculated that in about 1 billion years the level of carbon dioxide will fall to such a level that plants will begin to die en masse.
This will destroy established ecosystems and affect living beings.
But the death of all living things will not happen at once. Life will completely disappear on Earth in about 1.6–1.86 billion years.
The cause will be a humid greenhouse climate that will envelop the planet and make life unbearable.
Plants will die, water will evaporate and over time the Earth will turn into something like Mars.
