Researchers have identified factors that reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

The facts were shared by scientists from the University of Science and Technology of China.

The experts' findings are presented in a paper published in the Journal of the American Heart Association .

It was a large study involving 121,317 people with an average age of 57. None of them had cardiovascular disease.

The subjects took a psychological test in which they assessed their satisfaction in different areas of life.

Then, for a year, scientists analyzed what was happening to the volunteers’ cardiovascular systems.

This study showed that psychological aspects play no less an important role than the hereditary factor.

The more satisfied a person is with his life, the lower the risk of developing cardiovascular pathologies.

On average, it is 10–21% less than those who experience any well-being-related experiences.

And it's not just about being in a better state of mind. People who are satisfied with their lives take better care of their health, lead a more active lifestyle, and eat healthily.

All this has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system. Hence the lower risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
