Fraudsters use a clever combination of old and new methods of deception.
They combine psychological tricks with digital technology.
Director of the Anti-Fraud Department at Sberbank Sergei Veligodsky told RIA Novosti how scammers operate.
Criminals quickly gain the victim's trust by using social engineering methods. They use instant messengers, deepfakes, and other digital tools of psychological influence in their schemes.
This “digital magic” helps the attackers look convincing in the eyes of the victim.
Sberbank is actively countering these threats. According to Veligodsky, the regulator uses deepfake detection technology and an anti-fraud system that blocks suspicious transactions.
Veligodsky emphasized that the usual methods of protection no longer help; new approaches to protection against fraudsters are needed.
