Experts have told which browser Russians should not use.
The comment was shared by the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents (NCCI), which was created by order of the FSB.
Users of the Sputnik browser are under potential threat, Interfax reports.
Experts do not recommend using it for either business or personal purposes.
The reason lies in the bankruptcy of the developer and the purchase of the domain name by a company from the USA.
The Sputnik browser was listed in the software registry of the Ministry of Digital Development until March 7, 2024. Then it was excluded from the list.
The legal entity that created the software was declared bankrupt back in 2023, and technical support was terminated in 2022.
The domain name was put up for sale and a buyer was found. It was acquired by the Global Internet Telemetry Measurement Collective (USA).
There is no information about the purpose for which it is used. Therefore, the Sputnik browser is recognized by the experts of the National Center for Cybersecurity and Information Security as dangerous for users from the Russian Federation.
