Russians are being deceived with the story that services under the compulsory medical insurance policy will no longer be available to them.

Alla Khrapunova, an expert of the People's Front project "For the Rights of Borrowers", warned about a scheme to deceive Russians.

Fraudsters contact the victim and claim that the compulsory medical insurance policy is supposedly being deactivated, RIA Novosti reports.

They say this will happen because of mandatory data updates.

The scammers then say that this can be prevented and demand that the victim dictate an SMS code that is sent to the victim’s phone.

With its help, attackers gain access to Russians’ accounts on “Gosuslugi”.

Khrapunova emphasized that the SMS code should not be disclosed to strangers under any circumstances.

She compared the importance of these numbers to the keys to an apartment.

This code essentially opens access to important information and allows scammers to carry out a number of fraudulent operations, including taking out loans in the name of their victims.

The expert reminded that insurance companies update policies themselves. Old policies on "Gosuslugi" are updated automatically, so in this case, only scammers will call and demand a code.
