Scientists from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have announced that, according to their calculations, oxygen on Earth is becoming increasingly scarce.
It is emphasized that various factors, including those related to human intervention in nature, have a significant impact on the deterioration of the situation on the planet.
The researchers noted: "Ocean acidification is occurring, the ozone layer is being thinned by chemical pollution," as reported in the scientific journal Science Alert .
In addition, serious aerosol loading and changes in many vital terrestrial processes are recorded.
An unflattering forecast
As lead author of the study Kevin Rose noted, a significant loss of liquefied oxygen will soon begin.
Following this problem, there will be a disruption of the Earth's ecological and social systems.
The scientist emphasized: "We are already on the way to many critical thresholds. Humanity must take this into account and take measures as soon as possible."
Otherwise, according to the researcher, the process of “strangulation” will begin, which in the scientific community is called euthophication.
