Roscosmos has sounded the alarm over the destroyed Intelsat-33e satellite.
It turned out that the debris from the device could pose a threat to all satellites that are currently in stationary orbit.
Roscosmos shared this information on its Telegram channel.
According to the agency, a sharp increase in space objects was recorded in near-Earth space in the area where the Intelsat-33e telecommunications satellite was destroyed.
Roscosmos specialists conducted a study and found about 80 fragments of the structure. They established that the satellite was destroyed in one moment.
In this regard, there is a great danger for all space bodies located near it. The potential threat concerns, among other things, the orbital group of the state corporation Roscosmos.
In order to assess the scale of the threat, specialists continue to monitor the situation. After new fragments of the dangerous object are identified, new calculations will be made.
This measure is necessary to avoid dangerous encounters with spacecraft of the Russian group.
