Rice and a hair dryer won't save you: how to actually dry a smartphone that fell into water

Dropping a phone into water makes its owner mentally say goodbye to the device.

However, if you act quickly, all may not be lost.

Let's figure out what the correct algorithm is for saving your phone from moisture.

How to proceed

The first thing you need to do is wipe off excess water from your smartphone and, if it suddenly starts working, turn it off immediately.

The rice method only works in practice if water has not penetrated inside the device or if your device has a removable battery.

It is strongly not recommended to use a hair dryer. If hot air can melt the contacts, then cold air simply blows the drops inside, thus making the situation even worse.

But a vacuum cleaner will help in this case, since it sucks up the liquid.

And remember: moisture dries for at least three days, so you need to fight the temptation to turn on the device all this time. The main thing is not to leave the phone in direct sunlight, which is fraught with the appearance of condensation.
