The reason given was a violation of legal requirements that relate to preventing the use of the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes.
Previously, users from the Russian Federation reported unstable operation of the service.
Signal is considered one of the most secure instant messaging services, protected by end-to-end encryption technology.
The messenger appeared in 2014 and was known as TextSecure until 2015. The service began to gain popularity in 2021, when WhatsApp* updated its privacy policy.
At the same time, the situation with YouTube is being discussed in the Russian Federation. Recently, the video hosting service has started to work very poorly for some users in Russia.
