In Japan, they are looking into the issue of human habitation on the Moon.

Scientists have begun work on a project to create a closed ecosystem that could support human life in the conditions of the Earth's satellite.

RIA Novosti reports this with reference to information distributed by the press service of the Center for the Study of Human Activity in Space.

This organization exists at Kyoto University. Together with the Kajima company, they developed a project called Lunar Glass NEO.

The intention to explore the Moon was announced back in 2022, and at that time scientists set three main tasks that needed to be solved before sending it into space:

  • creation of artificial gravity;
  • development of a closed ecosystem;
  • creation of a transport system equipped with an artificial gravity system.

Scientists plan to first recreate the proposed ecosystem for human existence on the Moon under Earth conditions.

The object will be a glass paraboloid mounted on a round pedestal. The approximate dimensions of this object are 200 meters in diameter.

It is planned that a building of this size will eventually be able to accommodate up to 10 thousand people.
