Telegram is seeing more and more cases of fraud related to fake accounts.
Fraudsters have learned to imitate profiles of acquaintances and friends in order to steal personal data.
This information was shared with RIA Novosti by the Garda Group.
According to the organization, fake accounts look like exact copies of accounts of friends, relatives and friends.
As specified by the Garda Group, there are two ways to verify that the account in front of you is real.
Experts recommended checking the account's presence in the contact list, and also asking the suspicious user questions that only your interlocutor knows the answer to.
It is noted that such a question should be one that was not discussed in the general chat.
If the account turned out to be fake, Garda Group advised contacting the messenger's support service with this problem.
Experts also explained what to do if an account was stolen. It is necessary to check if there are any suspicious devices in active sessions in the messenger.
If there are any, you need to end their sessions, immediately change the password in the messenger and then enable two-step authentication.
