Google plans to keep its free services for users in Russia despite problems with accounts.

Since early September 2024, Russians have begun to encounter problems in restoring access to Google accounts.

Izvestia reports this with reference to a statement from the company.

The main problem is that users have stopped receiving SMS with authorization codes needed to log in.

On September 26, the Ministry of Digital Development confirmed that Google had restricted the creation of new accounts for Russian users.

Telecom operators have also recorded a significant reduction in the number of SMS messages sent to Russian users.

Google said it is working to resolve the issues to keep free services available to Russian users.
