Google Corporation has introduced restrictions on the creation of new accounts for users from Russia.
This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
Users can no longer create new Google accounts using Russian mobile numbers, RIA Novosti reports.
SMS confirmation for authorization for previously created accounts is still working.
However, telecom operators have recorded a significant reduction in the number of such SMS messages from Russian users.
Due to the restrictions introduced, the Ministry of Digital Development recommends that users of Google services create backup copies of all important data.
Russians are also invited to consider the possibility of switching to domestic platforms.
Users began complaining that they could not register a Google account using a Russian mobile number in September.
When trying to confirm the number, the service issued a warning. The verification code also remained unavailable.
