An expert spoke about a multi-step deception scheme that scammers actively use on social networks.

Honored lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov shared a comment on this topic.

At the first stage, scammers join groups on social networks for financial or creative growth, writes Prime .

There, they select potential victims from among subscribers, with whom they contact in private messages. For example, they can ask if the course is good, if it can be trusted, what results it brings.

The main goal is not just to start a dialogue, but also to establish a full-fledged virtual acquaintance.

The scammers spare no time for this. They can "process" one person for months.

At this point, the second stage begins – building trusting communication and evoking sympathy.

For example, a new “friend” may tell you about difficulties in their personal life or other problems.

Such communication can last up to six months. Some start to act earlier if they see that the interlocutor is "ready".

The third stage begins when the scammer reveals a “million dollar secret” to the victim. He brags about making “a lot of money” with a surefire scheme.

The method is a bet on a fixed sports competition. The swindler claims to know a person who allegedly knows the outcome of the match in advance. All that remains is to place a bet and receive 20-30 times more than was invested.

The scammer also says that in addition to the amount for the bet, you need to pay for entry into a closed group.

The lawyer noted that many believe and spend not only their personal savings, but also take out loans or borrow from friends. The result is the same - loss of funds.

Thus, scammers choose victims on social networks from among those who want financial well-being. And, preferably, quickly, easily and reliably. Fraudsters take advantage of this.

Earlier it became known why public Wi-Fi can be dangerous for ordinary users.
