A specialist explained whether a Moscow resident’s smartphone could have exploded due to a cyberattack on Lebanon.
Yuri Silaev, head of the laboratory of trusted artificial intelligence at RTU MIREA, shared a comment on this topic.
The media reported that on September 18, when laptops, radios and other wireless equipment were catching fire en masse in Lebanon, a Muscovite's Honor smartphone exploded.
In a conversation with RT, Silaev doubted the connection between these events. He believes that the Russian's gadget exploded due to battery overheating, which sometimes happens due to the fault of users.
For example, this can happen if you regularly charge your smartphone with a fast charging unit.
The expert emphasized that it is dangerous to use a gadget with a damaged battery. It is also not recommended to charge the device with a block from other smartphones.
In addition, it is necessary to monitor the degree of battery degradation. In the latest software versions, manufacturers additionally display information about this, Silaev said.
Thus, he ruled out a connection between the incident in Moscow and what happened in Lebanon. The expert believes that this is simply a coincidence related to a particular malfunction of the phone.
