They know how to carefully disguise themselves at the initial level, and appear when it is too late to do anything.

Hits where it hurts most
At the beginning of the relationship, the dangerous narcissist is willing to listen and support your endeavors. He seems gentle and able to guess all your desires.
He used cunning to find out your weak points and then hit them as hard as possible.
Words don't match actions
Narcissists promise a lot and do little. If you make a deal with a narcissist, he will assure and swear, but will do what is beneficial to him alone.
He justifies his inaction by saying that he did not remember, did not promise, and perhaps forgot.
He operates from a position of superiority.
He says that he is smarter, more experienced and more spiritual. He always speaks about himself in superlatives and gives a dozen arguments.
