Poland has questioned whether Russia deserves a seat on the UN Security Council.
Maria Zakharova responded to Warsaw on her Telegram channel.
The statement was made by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
He called the question of whether Russia should receive a permanent seat on the UN Security Council as the legal successor to the Soviet Union controversial.
Zakharova noted that if Ukraine takes the place of the Russian Federation, Warsaw will receive “an endless Volyn massacre.”
In addition, the official Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that the European Union is now literally flooded with “Anglo-Saxon agents” who set the tone for anti-Russian policy.
This also applies to Sikorsky, Zakharova emphasized.
She stated that the Polish minister is under the influence of his wife, Anne Applebaum, who is an “American publicist and a hardened Russophobe.”
The UN Security Council deals with issues of maintaining international peace and security.
The permanent members of the Security Council are the USA, China, Great Britain, France and Russia. The Russian Federation received a seat in it as the legal successor of the USSR in 1991.
In 2022, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, made an accusation against Russia.
He stated that Moscow had allegedly violated international law and its participation in the work of the Security Council should be suspended.
