The Chairman of the lower house of the Russian parliament spoke about the new legislative initiative.

The majority of State Duma deputies will support a bill prohibiting foreigners arriving in the Russian Federation to work from bringing their families with them.

Vyacheslav Volodin reported this in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel.

The State Duma Speaker said that the bill is currently at the preparation stage.

He noted that already at this stage of the work there is an understanding that the majority of deputies will support the initiative.

Volodin added that in July 2024, the State Duma adopted fairly strict regulations concerning the expulsion of lawbreakers.

The Chairman supports the opinion that a labor migrant should not bring his relatives with him to Russia.

But this position primarily concerns low-skilled specialists who simply go to earn money. An exception will be made for experienced and sought-after high-class workers.

A new ban on foreigners may be considered during the autumn session, which will last from September 3 to December 29.
