The Russian State Duma has begun considering a bill aimed at banning the promotion of conscious refusal to have children.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin reported this on his Telegram channel.
He emphasized that this initiative is aimed at strengthening the institution of the family in the Russian Federation.
The bill provides for the introduction of administrative liability for the dissemination of information that popularizes childlessness.
Volodin noted that childfree propaganda contradicts the idea of a strong state based on a close-knit and large family.
Fines for violating the new law will vary depending on the status of the offender:
- for individuals – up to 400 thousand rubles;
- for officials – up to 800 thousand rubles;
- for legal entities – up to 5 million rubles.
Volodin emphasized that the propaganda of childlessness harms society.
In his opinion, a strong family is the foundation of a strong state.
Volodin explained that any attempts to undermine this institution must be stopped.
