Russia has organized a training exercise to practice actions within the framework of the use of nuclear deterrence forces.
The event was hosted by Vladimir Putin. The head of state commented on the situation.
According to the president, the purpose of the training is to practice the actions of officials in managing the use of nuclear weapons (NW), RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that within the framework of these events, practical launches of ballistic and cruise missiles will be carried out.
At the same time, Putin emphasized that Moscow views nuclear weapons as an extreme measure in the context of ensuring Russia’s security.
But the president is forced to acknowledge that nuclear weapons retain their status as a reliable guarantor of the country’s sovereignty and security.
The Russian leader added that Russia does not intend to enter into a new arms race, but Moscow will pay special attention to nuclear forces and its arsenal.
The state will continue to develop and improve this area. The country has all the resources for this, Putin summed up.
Earlier, Russian authorities announced their intention to change the country's nuclear doctrine. Moscow believes that the document should be updated so that it meets the challenges of the modern world and the current geopolitical situation.
