US brings charges against Channel One host Simes and his wife

The US Department of Justice has brought charges against political scientist Dimitri Simes and his wife Anastasia.

The Channel One presenter is charged on three counts. For each episode, the maximum punishment is 20 years in prison.

The formal charges against Simes and his wife are listed on the US Department of Justice website .

The Symes are US citizens. Their home is in Virginia, where US law enforcement has previously conducted searches.

Thus, one of the points of the indictment states that the couple violated the sanctions regime imposed against the television company Channel One.

According to the American side, the couple received more than $1 million for their activities, and then tried to launder these funds.

In addition, they received a car, the services of a personal driver, and funds for an apartment in Moscow from the sanctioned company.

It is noted that the Simes are currently outside the United States. The FBI is investigating them.

The political scientist himself previously stated that he had not been to the United States since 2022.
