The command of the US Air Force Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany has issued an order for pilots to wear uniforms.
According to the document, pilots of the 52nd Fighter Base based there are prohibited from wearing uniforms outside the base.
They must travel to their duty station in civilian clothes, Stars and Stripes reports.
The ban is being introduced as a precautionary measure for operational security purposes.
Previously, similar measures were taken in connection with the risk of terrorist threats.
In 2010, the U.S. European Command issued a directive prohibiting service members from wearing uniforms while off duty.
Later, the ban on wearing uniforms was extended only to trips to work.
Then in 2022, the restrictions were relaxed.
However, in light of the increased threat of terrorist attacks, the ban on wearing uniforms for pilots has once again become relevant.
Earlier it was reported that US military bases in the EU were put on high alert due to the threat of a terrorist attack .
