UN General Assembly Adopts Russian Resolution on Combating Glorification of Nazism

It has become known how the UN reacted to the resolution proposed by the Russian Federation.

A document dedicated to the fight against the glorification of Nazism was adopted by the UN General Assembly.

A RIA Novosti correspondent reported this on December 18.

The Russian resolution is dedicated to condemning any manifestations of glorification, as well as propaganda of Nazism.

This item specifically includes ceremonial events in honor of the Nazis, as well as the application of Nazi symbols to memorials.

The authors of the document appeal to governments of the world and recommend taking measures, including at the legislative level, against racial discrimination.

It is noted that the resolution was adopted by a majority of votes: 119 voted in favor, 53 voted against.

Among the countries that spoke out against the Russian initiative were the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Canada, and others.

India, Egypt, Armenia, the UAE, Brazil and other states voted in favour. Turkey, Switzerland, Panama, Myanmar and Kiribati were among those that abstained.
