Türkiye has denied entry to Israeli President Isaac Herzog's plane into its airspace.
Despite intensive negotiations, the parties were unable to reach an agreement.
Information about the closure of airspace was confirmed by sources both in Baku and Israel. This was reported by the Israeli newspaper Ynet .
As a result, other Israeli officials changed their route, but Herzog was unable to take advantage of the same option.
Israel explained the decision to cancel the trip by security reasons.
Representatives of Baku, where the Duke was heading, assured that the level of security in the capital remains high.
The Duke has previously visited Azerbaijan and diplomatic talks on the situation are expected to continue.
Other Israeli officials have chosen the route through Georgia. Why the president has not done the same is still unclear.
