Donald Trump's team wants to hold accountable military officials involved in decisions to withdraw troops from Afghanistan in 2021.

It is planned to create a special commission that will study all the details of this process.

Team members want to find out which military leaders made the decisions and how they were carried out, NBC News emphasizes, citing sources.

One of those responsible for this direction was former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Matt Flynn.

However, experts note that the legal side of the issue is more complex than it might seem.

The military followed orders from President Joe Biden. That makes it difficult to charge them.

The United States sent troops to Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks in 2011. Their mission was to destroy the terrorist group that carried out the attacks.

In 2020, a troop withdrawal agreement was signed under Trump. However, the process was completed under Biden in 2021.

Now Trump wants to figure out who is to blame for this development of events and who will be responsible for the consequences of the withdrawal of troops.
