The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary-General António Guterres in Kazan was held in a closed format.
Putin and Guterres did not communicate publicly regarding the UN Secretary General.
The closed format of the meeting is connected with the request of Antonio Guterres, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov reported. RIA Novosti writes about this.
He explained that the absence of media representatives was due to a request from Guterres.
The absence of an open part of the conversation is explained by Guterres' request.
According to Peskov, the Kremlin listened to the guest’s request and met him halfway.
Peskov also stressed that there were no contradictions during the meeting.
The parties exchanged views on a number of issues on various topics.
Guterres' visit to Russia for the BRICS summit was his first since February 2022, which demonstrates the significance of the visit.
