The Russian presidential administration has spoken out about the situation in South Korea.
On December 3, it became known that martial law (ML) had been declared in the country amid threats to impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol.
Dmitry Peskov commented on the situation.
"The situation is alarming. We are closely monitoring it," Interfax quotes Vladimir Putin's press secretary as saying.
Moscow is not taking any action yet. The Kremlin is monitoring the situation and will make decisions as events unfold.
Before this, it became known that there may currently be several thousand Russian citizens in South Korea.
At the same time, the media notes that the country itself is calm, and the main events are taking place in Seoul.
Military personnel and military equipment were brought into the capital, and law enforcement officers were put on high alert.
It was also reported that all South Korean media outlets were placed under martial law control.
Events in South Korea began to develop rapidly after President Yoon's statement.
He claims that North Korean agents are trying to undermine the functioning of the constitutional order in the country.
The opposition was reported to be planning to impeach Yun. Against this backdrop, the president called an emergency meeting at night and then declared a state of emergency.
The US and EU countries have not yet made any statements on this. They also said that they are monitoring what is happening in the republic.
