The Foreign Ministry commented on US plans to consider lifting restrictions on missile strikes deep into Russia.
A statement on this topic was made on Wednesday, September 11, by the deputy head of the department, Sergei Ryabkov.
Joe Biden recently announced that the issue of lifting restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against Russia will be considered in the near future.
According to Ryabkov, such statements from the White House are part of a psychological war, RIA Novosti reports.
It, in turn, is part of the hybrid war that Washington has been waging against the Russian Federation for several years now.
Ryabkov explained that the purpose of such statements is obvious – to intimidate Moscow and force it to abandon previously stated goals.
The Foreign Ministry representative emphasized that Russia will maintain Washington’s previous course and plans, which are escalatory in nature and will increase the risks for the United States itself and its allies.
Ryabkov believes that such “provocative statements” from the White House are inappropriate if Washington is truly interested in strengthening its own security.
Lifting restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against Russia will obviously have serious consequences, so the Foreign Ministry recommended that the US carefully assess all the risks.
