Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Mikhail Delyagin commented on China’s decision.
Earlier, the media reported that Beijing had advised its automakers not to invest in Russia.
Delyagin stressed that this decision by China should not be viewed from a political point of view, Lenta.ru reports.
In this case, we are talking about commercial motives.
The deputy explained that Chinese car manufacturers “don’t invest much” in Russia anyway, because this only concerns local assembly.
“That is, there is very little added value left,” the politician noted.
The lower house member stressed that from a commercial point of view, Beijing's recommendation to its companies is "unfortunately justified".
Chinese authorities have advised manufacturers not to expand capacity in Russia, Turkey and India.
