The NATO Secretary General commented on the development of bilateral relations between the alliance and Russia.

According to Jens Stoltenberg, the North Atlantic bloc allegedly tried to maintain dialogue with Moscow until the very end, but it was interrupted due to the latter’s fault.

The Secretary General made this statement live on German media, RIA Novosti reports.

At the same time, Stoltenberg shifted responsibility for the interruption of dialogue onto Russia.

Russia bears responsibility for the destruction of the Russia-NATO dialogue, Stoltenberg said.

The Secretary General recalled that NATO-Russia relations developed fruitfully in the 1990s. At that time, the Russia-NATO Founding Act was signed, and the Russia-NATO Council was established.

This same Council was convened at the time when the alliance learned of the upcoming events of 2022.

At the same time, according to him, he himself actively built relations with Russia in the period that followed the Cold War.

However, there is currently no opportunity to enter into dialogue with Russia, Stoltenberg added in conclusion.
