Several members of Moldova's election commissions have been temporarily suspended from work.

The defendants in the vote-buying case include chairmen, secretaries and operators of election bureaus.

Several members of election commissions have been temporarily suspended in connection with a case of vote-buying, RIA Novosti reports.

The head of the Central Election Commission of Moldova, Angela Caraman, confirmed the temporary suspension of several members of the election commissions.

The police, the prosecutor's office and the National Anti-Corruption Centre regularly conduct searches as part of a criminal case on bribery.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that law enforcement officers have evidence of vote-buying.

After the first round of the presidential elections on October 20, Sandu announced the discovery of cases of vote-buying by criminal groups.

The criminal case involves chairmen, secretaries and operators of election bureaus.

Some of them have been suspended from their duties.

Karaman did not specify exactly how many people were suspended.
