The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry delivered a speech at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
Sergey Lavrov spoke about the most pressing issues on the agenda today.
From the UN podium, the Russian minister stated that attempts to fight until victory with a nuclear power are pointless, RIA Novosti reports.
But the West does not abandon these attempts, Lavrov emphasized. According to him, it all began back in May 1945, when the "Unthinkable" plan was developed, the goal of which was to destroy the USSR.
The minister noted that 79 years ago, the enemies kept everything secret. Today, the US and Great Britain do not hide their plans.
Lavrov stated that the West's plan is doomed, because a war with a nuclear power is doomed to failure for those who unleash it.
At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that Moscow remains ready for dialogue and does not intend to isolate itself from the West.
Russia's initiative is to create an architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia.
Lavrov said that this topic will be actively discussed at an international conference in Minsk, which will begin on October 31.
