The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the provocative behavior of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Moscow condemned the actions of the official, who, against the backdrop of growing tensions in the Middle East, continues to incite radical sentiments.

Russia is concerned about Ben Gvir's provocative action at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the department's website reports.

Israel's national security chief performed collective prayer at a mosque along with thousands of Jews.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that such “irresponsible steps” lead to an increase in radical sentiments both in Israel and in Palestine.

This nullifies global efforts to resolve the situation in the Middle East, Moscow emphasizes.

But the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that such antics of religious Zionism are of a regular nature.

Russia advised the Israeli authorities to take effective measures to stop this “vicious practice.”

The Russian Federation emphasized that such actions grossly violate the status quo of the holy sites of Jerusalem.

The situation in the Middle East remains tense amid the possibility of Iran launching a strike on Israel.

Some analysts believe that this could start a major war.
