Qatar's energy minister has issued a warning to the EU.
The country's energy chief has threatened to cut off LNG supplies altogether if QatarEnergy is fined.
This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper, whose journalists spoke with the Qatari Minister of Energy.
It is noted that this concerns fines that can be imposed for violating so-called corporate sustainability criteria. These include employee and human rights, as well as hydrocarbon emissions.
The amount of these fines is not less than 5% of the total income that the company earns per year.
As Saad al-Kaabi emphasized, the introduction of such fines would mean a loss of profit for QatarEnergy.
And since the above mentioned company is a national one, therefore, the people of Qatar will lose money.
Therefore, if such fines are introduced, the country intends to completely stop supplying its energy resources to the European Union.
