Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Kursk Region Governor Alexei Smirnov.
He appointed State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein as acting head of the region.
Putin's corresponding decree was posted on the Kremlin website .
In this regard, the Governor of the Kursk Region Smirnova announced the early termination of her powers.
Khinshtein has been appointed acting governor of the Kursk region until the elected person takes office.
The document emphasizes that the decree comes into force on the day of signing.
Shortly before this, Putin discussed with Khinshtein issues of crisis management in the Kursk region.
The President stressed that the first priority is to organize work in the current mode to help people in need.
Khinshtein, in turn, declared his readiness to lead and justify the trust of the Kursk region.
