Protesters in Abkhazia have demanded that President Aslan Bzhania resign within an hour.

They control the parliament building and the presidential administration in Sukhum and have threatened to go to his hideout if his demands are not met.

One of the opposition leaders, Levan Mikaa, said that protesters will come to Bzhania if he does not resign, RBC reports.

The president himself refused to resign. He called on citizens not to succumb to provocations and to continue to fulfill their duties.

The president's entourage reported that he allegedly left for his ancestral village of Tamysh.

However, the presidential press service confirmed that Bzhania is already in Tamysh. They also did not confirm rumors about his possible transfer to a Russian military base.

Protesters in Abkhazia are determined in their demands to the country's president.

Bzhania, despite pressure, continues to defend his position.
