Dmitry Peskov commented on the current political situation in the United States.
Vladimir Putin's press secretary noted the intimidation of dissidents by the American authorities and called it a "witch hunt."
The Kremlin's official representative gave this comment to RIA Novosti correspondents, also expressing words of support for journalist Dmitry Simes, whose home was searched by the FBI in the summer.
Peskov recalled that a similar situation had already been observed during the times of McCarthyism.
At that time, anyone whose opinion did not coincide with Washington's official position was intimidated in every possible way. Peskov emphasized that this even went as far as imprisonment and torture.
And now in the US, almost the same thing is happening, except that with the development of technology, more sophisticated and subtle methods are being used.
However, their essence boils down to the same results as before: to intimidate, brainwash and physically persecute dissenters, exerting moral pressure on them.
