In an interview with the radio station Komsomolskaya Pravda , Putin's press secretary said that the news of the assassination attempt on Trump surprised the head of the Russian state.
Putin took into account the fact that the security of a politician of such rank in the United States during an election campaign must be ensured at the highest level.
And reports that Trump had been shot and wounded raised eyebrows in the Kremlin.
Peskov stressed that no one approves of such attacks. Such acts of aggression deserve only censure and condemnation, the Kremlin spokesman believes.
Meanwhile, Trump criticized the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The politician accused the head of the agency of incompetent investigation of the assassination attempt.
