Mongolian authorities have assured Russia that they will not comply with the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President plans to visit the republic on September 3. Mongolia is among the countries that participate in the Rome Statute of the ICC.
But the country's leadership does not intend to carry out the warrant issued by the ICC for Putin's arrest, Bloomberg writes, citing its sources.
Journalists learned that Moscow received assurances from Mongolian partners that the Russian president would not be arrested on the territory of the country during his working visit.
Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov also commented on the situation earlier. According to him, the Kremlin is not concerned about Mongolia's participation in the Rome Statute of the ICC.
Peskov emphasized that an “excellent dialogue” has been established between Moscow and Ulaanbaatar.
Putin’s visit to the republic itself is being carefully planned, the president’s official representative summed up.
