Lebanese authorities have suggested what could be the reason for the mass detonation of pagers in the country.
The official line is that the incident may be linked to Israeli actions.
The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Information of the Republic, Ziyad Makari, RIA Novosti reports.
A Lebanese government official shared preliminary findings from an investigation into the incident.
As a result, Lebanon linked the incident to neighboring Israel and accused it of encroaching on the country's sovereignty.
Circumstances of the incident
On September 17, Lebanon experienced a mass detonation of pagers, which are still used in the country as a means of communication.
The cause is said to be high-tech influence, the source of which is allegedly Israel.
It is noted that 8 people died in the incident, one of them a minor. The total number of victims has now exceeded 2,800 people, 200 of whom are still in serious condition.
