The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, stated that Russia will not “chase after” anyone in an attempt to establish dialogue.
According to the diplomat, Moscow is aiming for bilateral and equal communications.
Lavrov pointed out: “If and when the West comes to its senses and then gets over its superiority, a conversation could take place,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
In addition, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the European Union was once created with the goal of ensuring the well-being of all its members.
Moscow's position
The diplomat emphasized: “Today, the EU functions as a so-called appendage of NATO.”
Lavrov also reminded the West that he is inclined to use aggressive rhetoric towards Russia, which makes any diplomatic communications impossible.
According to assurances from a representative of the Russian side, Moscow’s European colleagues should “come to their senses.”
Only in this case, according to Lavrov, can the preconditions for bilateral and equal discussions arise.
