The Kyrgyz authorities have responded to Russia's plans to tighten migration policy.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Edil Baisalov spoke on this topic on his page on the social network X*.
The politician said that it would be difficult for Bishkek to explain to citizens the meaning of membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) if the Russian Federation adopts restrictions regarding the employment of migrants.
Baisalov expressed hope that the planned measures will not affect citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that the fundamental principle of economic unification is free and equal access to the labor market.
If we look at the issue from some other perspective, Bishkek does not see the point in participating in the EAEU.
“In the event of any other interpretation and equating our citizens with migrants from third countries, it will be very difficult for us to justify to our people the meaning of participation in the EAEU,” said Baisalov.
After the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow, Russian politicians began to review their migration policy. They have taken a course toward tightening many points, including those concerning the employment of foreigners.
