A State Duma deputy commented on YouTube's actions towards Russian content makers.
In his Telegram channel, Alexander Khinshtein expressed the opinion that such steps only spur the development of domestic analogues of the popular foreign video hosting service.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy recalled that Russian platforms are changing their attitude to content monetization. This is necessary to attract authors to cooperate with video hosting services.
For example, RuTube is testing a new monetization model that takes into account the reach of videos shown not only within the platform, but also beyond it.
In turn, VK Video offers its authors to receive income in the amount of 50-80% from the display of advertising in the videos of their authorship.
This is why YouTube's actions are spurring and giving impetus to the development of Russian analogues. And although there is still much work to be done, as Khinshtein admitted, the growth and development of Russian video platforms is already noticeable.
