The Finnish Foreign Ministry announced when the country's authorities will discuss the issue of opening the border with Russia.
The comment was shared on Wednesday, August 7, by the head of the Foreign Ministry, Elina Valtonen.
Finnish authorities will discuss the possibility of opening the border next autumn, RIA Novosti reports. In the meantime, the borders are closed until further notice.
Valtonen did not specify the month when Helsinki would bring the issue up for discussion.
Finland has decided to close its border because of illegal migrants who cross the Russian border hoping to get into the European Union.
Russia denies Moscow's involvement in the migration crisis on the Russian-Finnish border.
At the same time, Russian authorities noted that the decision to close the border harmed Finland itself.
The eastern regions of the country suffered particularly economically, Russian politicians claimed.
