The media reported an order issued by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
About a day after the death of the head of the Hamas (Palestine) Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, Tehran decided to respond.
The American newspaper The New York Times , citing its sources, reports that Khamenei ordered a direct strike on Israel on Wednesday, July 31.
The publication's source points out that this is "retribution for the assassination of Haniyeh." The high-ranking politician was killed during an Israeli strike on his residence in Tehran.
Haniyeh arrived in Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, which took place on July 30.
Palestine has blamed Israel and the United States for Haniyeh's death, and members of the movement have said that what happened will not go unanswered.
Iranian authorities also said they would induce "deep remorse" in the criminals.
At the same time, official Tehran has not yet announced its decision regarding the incident.
The UN has stated that the Middle East is extremely close to a serious conflict that would nullify all efforts to de-escalate the region.
