Several hundred Russian citizens are awaiting a decision on whether to grant asylum in Finland.

The Finnish authorities are currently reviewing 1,100 applications from Russians.

Finland began to record a sharp increase in the number of applications from Russians in October 2022, Yle TV channel reports.

Several hundred Russians are awaiting a decision on whether to grant them asylum.

The problem is related to the suspension of the development of principles for working with asylum seekers from the Russian Federation that are common to all EU members.

Each state has the right to independently develop principles for working with petitioners.

According to the updated instructions, Finland will consider each case on an individual basis.

Migration services will have to take into account the risks to applicants if they refuse asylum.
